The first run downloads the local English OCR engine and caches it. Faint or angled photos and handwriting can be misread. The image is processed on this device.
03Extract image text with OCR in your chosen language
Select from 19 OCR languages, then use a readable photo or screenshot. OCR may misread small, faint, angled, low-contrast, or handwritten text. Review names, numbers, punctuation, and line breaks against the image before relying on the result.
English data ships with the app. The first run for another language downloads its OCR data, which the browser caches for later use. Images are processed on your device.
04Check the extracted text
The tool creates a plain text file. Images are limited to 25 MB and 5 megapixels for OCR processing. If no text is detected, the output states that no text was found.

Does OCR reproduce the image perfectly?
No. It can make recognition errors, especially with faint, angled, low-contrast, or handwritten text. Check the output against the source.
Which languages can I select?
Choose one of 19 languages, including English, Hindi, Bengali, Arabic, Japanese, and Chinese (Simplified). English data is bundled; other languages download on first use.
What are the OCR image limits?
The OCR input can be up to 25 MB and 5 megapixels.
