01 How it works

  1. Add a PDF to see its current document properties.
  2. Edit or clear the fields.
  3. Download the updated PDF.

02 Good to know

This updates document properties. It does not remove hidden page content or make a file anonymous.

03Update document properties

Set the title, author, subject and keywords. Advanced fields include the creator application, producer, creation date and modification date.

Choose Remove all metadata to clear the document properties instead of entering replacement values. Download the updated PDF when the fields are ready.

04Metadata is separate from page content

Changing the title does not change a visible heading or the PDF filename. Clearing metadata also does not remove text, comments, attachments, image data or other hidden page content.

If you are preparing a file to share, inspect it for other sensitive content as well. The privacy check can help find items that need review.

05Check the saved file

Open the downloaded PDF's document properties to confirm the values you intended to keep or remove. Retain the original if you may need its previous properties.

06 Questions

Can I change the author name in a PDF?

Yes. Set the Author field and download the updated PDF.

Does clearing metadata make a PDF anonymous?

No. It clears document properties, but visible text and other embedded content may still identify someone.

Does PDF metadata control the filename?

No. The document title property and the downloaded file's name are separate.
