Peer-to-peer file sharing between browsers

Use peer-to-peer file sharing to transfer files over a browser-to-browser WebRTC connection. Choose host or join and exchange connection codes manually. Free to use, with no sign-up required.

01

Connect

Data goes straight between browsers over an encrypted WebRTC channel. A public STUN server only helps the browsers find each other; it never sees your files. Some strict office networks block direct connections.

02

Send and receive

Connect first. Anyone connected can send files — any type, any size your device can hold.

01 How it works

  1. Open this page in two browsers and choose host or join.
  2. Exchange the connection codes manually.
  3. Send a PDF across the direct connection.

02 Good to know

The browsers exchange WebRTC connection codes through a channel you choose. The file travels through the browser connection, not this site's server. Network restrictions may prevent a connection because no relay is configured.

03Connect both browsers before sending

Open the tool in two browsers. One side hosts and the other joins; exchange the connection codes through a channel you choose, then send the file across the established connection.

The file travels through the browser connection rather than being stored by this site. Both peers need to stay online while the transfer runs.

04A direct connection depends on the network

Some firewalls and network configurations prevent a direct WebRTC connection. This tool has no relay configured, so a blocked connection cannot fall back to a relay server.

Keep the page open on both ends and verify the received file after transfer. Connection setup requires sharing the pairing codes with the intended recipient.

05 Questions

Are files uploaded to a cloud storage service?

No. The file is transferred through the WebRTC connection between the two browsers. The site does not store the file.

Why might the browsers fail to connect?

A firewall or network may block a direct WebRTC connection. The tool has no relay fallback, so try a different network if pairing cannot complete.

Can I send files other than PDFs?

Yes. The transfer accepts files in the browser, including multiple files. Both browsers must remain connected until they finish.
