01 How it works
- Choose a PDF with selectable text.
- Load the speech model and generate audio in your browser.
- Play or download the WAV file.
02 Good to know
The first use downloads an English speech model of about 211 MB. Processing long documents can be slow and create large WAV files. The text limit is 100,000 characters; scanned pages need OCR first.
03Convert selectable PDF text to audio
Choose a PDF whose words can be selected, then load the speech model and generate audio in the browser. The English model downloads on first use and is about 211 MB.
Scanned pages are images without selectable words. Run OCR PDF first and check the recognized text. Multi-column layouts, headers, and footnotes may not read in the order you expect.
04Plan for processing time and file size
The tool can process up to 100,000 characters. Long documents may take time to render and produce large WAV files; shorter sections are easier to review and download.
Play the result and check names, numbers, page order, and pronunciation before using the audio. This is speech playback from extracted text, not a narrated or summarized version of the document.
05 Questions
Can I download the spoken PDF as audio?
Yes. The tool generates a WAV file that you can play or download.
Why does the first use take time?
The browser downloads an English speech model of about 211 MB before generating audio. Long documents can also take time and create large WAV files.
Can I use a scanned PDF?
Run OCR PDF first to add selectable text. Check the recognized words because OCR can introduce errors before speech generation.
