Headings become chapters and page headers, footers and numbers are removed for comfortable reading. EPUB works with Apple Books, Kobo and Kindle (via Send to Kindle).
03Make PDF text easier to read on an ebook device
Add a PDF and choose EPUB e-book or Markdown output. Set a title, author, and language, then decide whether to include images and remove recurring headers, footers, and page numbers.
The converter identifies headings as chapter breaks and reflows extracted text for reading. This is most useful when the PDF contains selectable text and a clear reading order.
04Check the source before converting
PDF pages have fixed positions while EPUB text reflows to fit a screen. Multi-column pages, tables, footnotes, and decorative layouts may not convert into the intended reading order, so review the output on an ebook reader or in a preview app.
Scanned PDFs need OCR before their words can be extracted. OCR mistakes in names, numbers, or punctuation can carry into the ebook.
05EPUB or Markdown
Choose EPUB for an ebook file with book metadata and chapter structure. Choose Markdown when you want plain, editable text to continue working on in a text editor.
DRM-protected books cannot be converted. Keep the source PDF if you need to preserve its exact page layout.
