The source must fit within 120 frames at your selected frame rate, so 12 FPS allows up to 10 seconds. Trim a longer video first or lower the frame rate. FFmpeg runs locally in your browser. First use loads a roughly 32 MB same-origin WebAssembly core and can take time and use substantial memory. Combined inputs are limited to 100 MB, media duration to 30 minutes, frame dimensions to 4,096 pixels per side and 16 megapixels total, and output to 250 MB. Codec and filter support depends on the bundled build.

01 How it works

  1. Choose one video file.
  2. Set the GIF frame rate and width.
  3. Download the GIF.

02 Good to know

GIF has a limited color palette and can create large files. Output is capped at 120 frames and 1,280 pixels wide; at 12 FPS that allows up to 10 seconds. The decoded source must fit the duration and dimension limits.

03Choose frame rate and width for video-to-GIF conversion

Choose a video and set the GIF frame rate and output width. The conversion creates an animated GIF from the source video.

The source duration multiplied by the selected frame rate must fit within 120 frames. At 12 FPS, use a clip of 10 seconds or less. Longer sources are rejected, so trim them first or lower the frame rate. Output width is limited to 1,280 pixels. GIF uses a limited color palette and can produce large files.

04Limits and compatibility

The decoded source must fit the duration and dimension limits. FFmpeg runs in your browser, with a 100 MB input and 30-minute media limit. Codec and filter support depends on the bundled build.

05 Questions

How long can a 12 FPS GIF be?

The 120-frame cap allows up to 10 seconds at 12 frames per second.

Why can a GIF look different from its video source?

GIF has a limited color palette, so color and fine gradients can differ from the original video.

Does a GIF keep the video's sound?

No. The output is an animated GIF, which has no audio stream.

How do I convert a longer video?

Use Trim video first, or lower the frame rate until the source fits within 120 frames. The converter rejects a source that exceeds this budget; it does not automatically trim it.
