01 How it works
- Choose one audio file.
- Decode it in your browser.
- Download the WAV output.
02 Good to know
Your browser must support the source codec. The browser preserves the source sample rate when the browser supports it. Each input is limited to 300 MB and three hours; WAV output can be much larger than the source and browser memory limits may apply.
03How to convert audio to WAV
Choose one audio file and run the converter. It decodes the file in this browser and downloads a 16-bit PCM WAV. The source sample rate is retained when the browser can decode the source at that rate.
WAV is uncompressed PCM, so the download can be much larger than a compressed source such as MP3. Make room for the output before converting a long recording.
04Formats and limits
The browser must support the source codec. Inputs are limited to 300 MB and three hours, and decoded audio also uses browser memory. A file can exceed the memory limit even when it meets both listed limits.
05 Questions
Does converting MP3 to WAV restore lost audio quality?
No. WAV stores the decoded audio as PCM, but it cannot restore detail discarded when the source was encoded as MP3.
What kind of WAV does this tool create?
It creates 16-bit PCM WAV. The source sample rate is preserved when browser decoding supports it.
