Scanned the fronts and backs separately? Reverse the second file so the backs line up with their fronts.
03Put scanned fronts and backs in reading order
Add at least two PDFs and arrange the file order. The output takes a group of pages from each file in turn. The default is one page per file, producing A1, B1, A2, B2 when the inputs are ordered A then B.
When a scanner saves the backs in reverse order, enable Reverse the second file. Check how your scanner stacked the pages first; reversing is only right when the second PDF is actually backwards.
04Choose the interleave pace
Set Pages to take from each file per turn when pages were scanned in larger groups. For example, a value of two takes A1–A2, then B1–B2, and repeats. If one PDF runs out first, the remaining pages from the other inputs are added as their turns come up.

How do I combine separately scanned front and back pages?
Add the front-side and back-side PDFs in the right order, then alternate one page from each. Reverse the second file if the backs were saved last-to-first.
Can I take more than one page from each PDF per turn?
Yes. Set Pages to take from each file per turn to the number of consecutive pages you need before switching files.
What happens if the PDFs have different page counts?
The tool continues through the files in turn. Pages left in a longer file are included after shorter files run out.
Is this the same as merging PDFs?
No. Merge PDF appends one document after another. Alternate & Mix takes pages from the input PDFs in turns.
