Adding text or a signature preserves the original page content. Replaced text reuses the original font where possible and retains its size and colour. Missing characters use a similar font, with a warning before saving. Review the preview, or turn on Require original fonts and add the matching font to prevent substitutions. For sensitive information, use Redact PDF and inspect its output.

Adding new text or a signature preserves the original page content. Place added text carefully because it does not move nearby paragraphs out of the way.
04Know what text replacement changes
Replacements reuse the original font where possible and retain the text size, colour and page position. If a new character is missing from the embedded font, a similar font is used and the font check identifies affected pages before export. Review the preview before saving. Turn on Require original fonts to prevent substitutions, then add the matching static TTF or OTF font if needed.
Save a copy of the original PDF if you may need to restore its interactive content or compare the edit later.
05Remove sensitive content safely
Covering a word with a shape or highlight does not remove the underlying information. For sensitive content, use Redact PDF and inspect its output before sharing.
If you only need to add a note without changing existing words, use Add text to PDF.

Can I replace existing words in a PDF?
Yes. Use the text editing tool and review the affected page. The replacement reuses the original font, size, and colour, and the rest of the page is left untouched.
Does adding text move the surrounding paragraphs?
No. Added text is placed over the page and does not reflow nearby content.
Is drawing over text the same as redaction?
