Marked content is removed from the PDF. Text-only redactions preserve unmarked text and graphics. Pages with marks over images are rendered at 150 DPI; nearby text in an intersecting run may no longer be searchable. Form fields are flattened; comments and links on marked pages, attachments, and metadata are removed. Review the downloaded result before sharing.
03How to redact PDF text and page areas
Add a PDF, draw boxes over content or search for text, and choose black or white redaction marks. The tool removes marked content when it creates the output; it does not leave a movable rectangle over the original text.
A redaction can affect nearby content when a mark intersects a text run. Pages with marks over images may be rendered at 150 DPI, and form fields are flattened. Comments and links on marked pages, attachments and document metadata are removed from the output.
04Inspect the redacted copy
Open the downloaded PDF and check every marked area. Try selecting or searching for the removed text, and inspect page images and nearby words. Keep a separate original if retention rules allow it.
Redaction only covers the marks you apply. It does not find every personal detail automatically, so check headers, footers, attachments and other pages before sending the file.

Is drawing a black box over text enough?
No. A visual rectangle can leave the original text in the PDF. This tool removes content under the marks when it exports the redacted copy.
Does redaction preserve the exact original quality?
Unmarked text and graphics remain unchanged when the redaction is text-only. Pages with marks over images are rendered at 150 DPI, so inspect image quality and nearby text in the output.
Does the tool find every sensitive detail for me?
No. It removes only the areas or text you mark. Review every page, including scans, headers, footers and attachments.
