01 How it works

  1. Add the protected PDF.
  2. Enter its password.
  3. Download an unlocked copy.

02 Good to know

You must know the file's password. This tool does not discover or bypass unknown passwords. The unprotected output can be opened by anyone who has the file.

03Use the password you already know

Choose the protected PDF and enter its current password. If it opens successfully, download a copy that no longer asks for that password.

The new file can be opened by anyone who gets it. Store and share it with the same care as the unprotected document.

04Password removal and restriction removal are different

Remove PDF password is for a file that asks for an opening password. It requires that password.

If a PDF opens but blocks printing, copying or editing, use Unlock PDF instead. Only change a document when you have permission to do so.

05 Questions

Can I remove a password if I do not know it?

No. The tool needs the current opening password and does not crack or recover unknown passwords.

What happens to protection in the downloaded copy?

The copy is saved without its encryption and restrictions, so anyone with the file can open it. For a PDF that opens without a password and only blocks printing or copying, use Unlock PDF.
