Files processed on your device01 How it works
- Add PDFs in order.
- Set prefix, start number and digits.
- Download the stamped files.
02 Good to know
Numbering continues from one file to the next. A white box behind the number keeps it readable on busy pages.
03Number one PDF or a document set
Add PDFs in the order the numbers should follow. Forkgen continues the sequence across files and returns a ZIP when you process more than one.
Set a prefix, starting number, number of digits and optional suffix. Choose a corner, then adjust the size and colour if needed.
04Keep labels readable
A white plate behind each label is on by default. Turn it off if the page background is already clear. You can skip the first page of every file when cover pages should remain unnumbered.
Review the output and check the first and last labels in each file before using the set. Bates numbering is a visible page mark, not a legal filing or compliance check.
05What the numbering changes
The number is drawn onto each selected page. It does not renumber automatically if you later insert or reorder pages, so apply it after the document order is final.
06 Questions
Can Bates numbers continue across multiple PDFs?
Yes. Add the PDFs in sequence and numbering carries from one file to the next. Multiple outputs download together as a ZIP.
Can I add a prefix or change the starting number?
Yes. Set the prefix, start value, digit count and optional suffix before processing.
Does Bates numbering update if I change the PDF later?
No. The labels are visible marks on the pages. Reapply them after changing page order or inserting pages.
